Unfortunately, conditions ranging from blustery to brutal on Wednesday and Sunday kept us off the water. I hope everyone used the time to get a good rest and recharge because with a banquet and hosting a two day regatta, we’re going to have a busy week!
At 6:30 pm on Wednesday, the end of the school year celebration and awards banquet will be held at MYC. Baked ziti, salad and garlic rolls as well as soft drinks will be provided. Please bring an appetizer, side dish or desert to share. Adult beverages will be available including craft brewed lager, courtesy of Intracoastal Brewing Co., one of our top-tier sponsors. We should have a really good turnout so our last social event until school starts again should be a blast!
Also in the end-of-the-year category, Saturday and Sunday will be the last regatta in the Spring Treasure Coast Series. There should be a pretty good turn-out with boats from as far away as the Key Largo. Team Nat/Liz as well as Ben are currently in second place so with strong sailing this weekend, they can be on the podium for the series. Regatta sailing is a growth and learning experience for everyone, regardless of where they finish. We are all very proud of what all of our sailors are accomplishing and it has been really fun to see! Since we are helping to host this regatta, we will need to have some help from the parents. The park near the race course is a good viewing point and a really easy place for tired sailors to take a break or bail out if needed. We can talk about it Wednesday but we really need for someone and a truck to be there to help the kids beach the boats and if needed, de-rig and load for transportation. Right now the forecast for the weekend looks good, in 12-15 range, so hopefully that will hold and we have two really good sailing days.
Finally, it needs to be reported that Tim sailed on a First-Place winning Morgan 41 in and ocean racing series off of St. Augustine. There’s another one of the many ways to enjoy the sport of sailing!
See you Wednesday….
