Today was an AWESOME sailing day! The ideal conditions attracted 15 sailors, one of the better turnouts in a while. They took to the water on 8 BICs and 3 420s. In the afternoon, Team Local, powered by Long Doggers, got a a spinnaker flying for the first time in the history of SCS. It’s a significant milestone with more to come. The plan is to gradually do more spinnaker work for the varsity to add a really fun dimension to our sailing.
Practice will continue as usual next week on Saturday followed by a regatta in Vero Beach on Sunday. If you plan to go, be sure to let Coach Connor know and register on Regatta Networks. After that, there is the SCS year end banquet on 4/17. For practice on 4/20, the coaches plan for the team to sail to Squid Lips for fun and nourishment. After that there the semester will conclude with practice on 4/27 followed by the final regatta on 4/28 in Ft. Pierce.
It is incredible to see how far the team has come because of the work of the coaches, parents and volunteers who make it all happen. Thanks to everyone who contributes to our program.
