July 3, 2019 Weekly Update

It’s a hot summer but being on the water is a cool place to be. Distinguished alumnus Natalie was seen on the ocean off Port Canaveral taking advantage of a nice morning.  Sailing camp at EGYC is underway under Coach Pete’s guidance with Jimmy’s assistance.  They are fortunate to have Ethan as a leader and to show the new sailors the proper ways.

On the weekend of 7/20 & 21, MYC and EGYC will combine resources to host the J/24 District Championships.  A boat to use is being sought and although nothing is firm several possibilities are emerging so Coach Connor is hatching a plan to put together a SCS team to sail.  Stay tuned.

One of our local sailors, Dave Noble, who makes out plaques and trophies, is working on getting his boat ready for the regatta. He needs some help from someone who can go places in a boat that full size adults are too big for. Once there, the person would hold nuts to tighten deck hardware.  It doesn’t require extreme strength and he will pay “good money” for the help.  If interested, contact him at dave@sailawards.com of 321-543-2224.  He’s a really good sailor and person that I’ve known for 40 years and can vouch for his character.

Plans are gelling for next year.  We will be undertaking a sponsorship drive soon so if you have a business, work for a company that would provide a donation, or know anyone else that would like to support our program, please put me in contact or let me know how to best communicate.  Thanks in advance for any consideration.
